MANILA, Philippines ? Former world champion Gerry Pe?alosa admitted that it?s about time to leave the sport where he is known by the nickname ?Fearless.?
The 38-year-old pugilist revealed that his fight on Sunday against Thai Yodsaenkeng Kietmangmee, 22, will be his last fight in the ring.
?I?ve come to this decision. This will be my farewell bout,? Pe?alosa in a report by Abac Cordero of The Philippine Star.
Pe?alosa added that he is retiring to spend more time with his family.
He will stake his professional record of 54-8-2 (with 36 knockouts) at the Zamboanga City Coliseum against the Thai boxer (12-2, with 8 KOs).
?I?ve decided to retire. I?m happy and contented with what I?ve achieved in boxing and what the sport has given me. Besides, I don?t think luck is still on my side as shown in my last two fights,? he explained.
