Freddie Roach prefers closed doors but Bob Arum eyes media day October 18th

It?s no secret that trainer Freddie Roach has become more and more strict over the years in allowing access to the camps of his star fighter, Manny Pacquiao. Even now as the world?s premier fighter prepares rigorously for his November 13th fight with Antonio Margarito, Roach seems to prefer a ?closed doors? approach with the coverage of the Filipino star. Pacquiao is currently training at the Shape Up Boxing Gym inside the Cooyeesan Hotel in Baguio City and will be leaving for Los Angeles in the third week of the month.

Recently Roach revealed to Ring correspondent Ted Lerner that his preference of keeping Pacquiao?s camps mum isn?t as much about the people watching as it is the fighter himself. Pacquiao, according to Roach, tends to showboat a little bit when other people are around and it is something that isn?t necessary as he prepares for yet another huge fight in his career.

?I want him to concentrate on the task at hand,? Roach stated.

Fair enough and to those looking to get a closer look at Pacquiao in preparation for the Margarito bout, Top Rank?s Bob Arum revealed that he will be holding a media day for his fighter on Monday, October 18th at 1 PM, according to Nick Giongco of Fightnews.com.

?It should be a huge event,? Arum said when eyeing the media day. The Las Vegas based promoter also revealed that he will be joined by Mexican promoter Fernando Beltran, who will come with a few Mexican media men of his own.

?I am very excited to be there and see Manny, the rest of the team, and the Filipino boxing fans,?

Roach and conditioning coach Alex Ariza will also be available for interviews on this day. Anyone interested in attending the event can click HERE for all hotel inquiries
