The easy and quick answer is, NO. There are and always have been fighters in boxing that fight past their primes. There’s an argument, and usually a fair argument when a boxer fights on past their best days in the ring, but does anyone have the right to go to the hate card, and to go out of their way to write negative and insulting remarks about that fighter? Unfortunately, yes they do have that right because this is America. With that said, it’s the measure of a man that sits behind his keyboard and bangs out negativity and forgets the flip-side of a person.
Roy Jones Jr is the perfect example. Here you have a guy who’s re-written boxing record books. He’s one of the greatest fighters of all time. Even if Roy has fought past his prime, does he deserve to have a writer disrespect him? I would say that he does not deserve to be disrespected by anyone, especially by someone who wouldn’t know a fight if a fight hit them in the face.
It’s completely fair to write an opinion about a fighters ability. It’s a coward that takes cheap shots at a legend such as Roy Jones Jr from a keyboard in some hick town in the middle of nowhere. Usually in most cases, it’s those who do not have the capability to actually talk to a Roy Jones Jr that have to resort to assumptions, and guessing in their articles.
