Viva boss to make 3 Cebu boxers multi-media stars

Legendary star maker Vic Del Rosario, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Viva Entertainment, was in Cebu yesterday to personally sign a contract with three Cebu-based boxers whom he plans to introduce to the glitzy world of show business.

ALA Boxing Promotion’s WBO minimum weight champ Donnie Nietes, Rey Bautista and AJ Banal witnessed the contract-signing between Del Rosario and ALA president Michael Aldeguer at the Cebu Grand Hotel.

Among Del Rosario?s big-name celebrities are Robin Padilla, Sharon Cuneta, Anne Curtis and Sarah Geronimo and the star-maker did not mince words in laying down his lofty goals for the three boxers whom he plans to give product endorsements, television, print and radio appearances.

?The concept we discussed with ALA promotions is how to manage the artists/athletes outside the ring,? Del Rosario said adding that his Viva Sports Management will take care of the boxers? new careers.

For Nietes, Banal and Bautista, this new development in their careers is the start of realizing their dream of approximating their idol, world pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao, not to mention the additional income that this new endeavor will give them.

Del Rosario disclosed that he intends to make his new talents as endorsers for medicines, energy drinks and other health products while full coverage or live feeds of the boxers? fights still needs fine-tuning.

Del Rosario and Viva decided to hire Visayan athletes as new talents because of their fearsome reputation as ring gladiators. ?Visayan talents are very gifted and they really create an impact on the people,? del Rosario said.

Aldeguer for his part said that he and ALA Promotions were honored to be approached by a showbiz czar like Del Rosario. ?For me, there are lots of bigger things in store for these three boxers,? he said.

Banal said he considers himself very lucky to have received such an offer to become a Viva talent the reason why he grabbed the chance outright. Nietes, who is tapped to endorse a food chain in his native Bacolod, is also thankful for the opportunity Viva gave him.
