ESPN’s Jay Mariotti walks, so will Floyd Mayweather Jr.

People are constantly asking me how much jail time Floyd Mayweather Jr. will wind up getting as a result of his Baby Mama Drama with lissome Josie Harris.

My written prediction had been maybe all of two days but I’m cutting that down to zero days now.

The three hours or so “Money May” spent in Central Booking before his $3,000 bail was porperly posted is, I believe, the extent of his incarceration on the matter.

Different court in a neighboring state but the dispostion of ESPN blowhard Jay Mariotti’s misdemeanor battery charge in Los Angeles Friday could be instructive as to Mayweather’s fate.

The ex-Chicago sports column pleaded no contest to the charges involving a public argument/tussle with his girlfriend. Apparently, at least in Mariotti’s view, she looked at and/or spoke with SOD (Some Other Dude) at a nightclub when the drinks were flowing.

Marriotti got off with no jail term, snapping up 36 months of probation, community service and mandatory completion of a domestic violence. Six other counts against him were dropped as part of the plea deal.

Look for Mayweather to accept a similar “package deal” with perhaps the added feature being something like him recording a “real men don’t hit women” type public service spot.

The lawyer for Mariotti said they would have prevailed at trial but that the former scribe decided the time and expense was not worth it. Yeah, sure, pal, whatever you say.

Certainly disposing of it one fell swoop was in Mariott’s interst in terms of continued employment by the sports cable network.

Mayweather’s Las Vegas court arraignment is set for Nov. 9, four days before Manny Pacquiao tees it up with Antonio Margarito at Cowboys Stadium.

Certainly, Mayweather will have great interest in watching two opponents he has stidiously steered clear of fight.

I’m just saying “Money” can watch it from the plush comforts of his “Big Boy Mansion” because he won’t go back to the pokey unless he and Baby Mama experience another brouhaha while the current case is pending.

If there’s a Mayweather who is going to jail in Nevada anytime soon, it’s uncle/trainer and former world champ Roger Mayweather a/k/a “Black Mamba.”

Female boxer Melissa St. Vil has not backed off on her complaint that Roger tried to strangle her in a disupute at an apartment he owns. Last I heard trial is slated for 24 days from now, Oct. 25, although it could always get delayed.

Roger has a more extensive criminal record than his nephew and did jail time on similar charges previously.
