Suddenly Floyd Mayweather, Jr. is quiet. Maybe the stench over the Shane Mosley vs. Sergio Mora contest will hang with us for a day or two tops but if Floyd is silent for another day or two I would agree with fellow examiner Brad Cooney, of Mississippi, that Mayweather is getting some good advice.
Certainly well deserved, but has anyone had a worse stretch of time than Mayweather after his racist rant, apology and finally four felony and four misdemeanor violations?
Floyd has a high-priced defense attorney that seems to have his ear for now.
I’m assuming before his November 9 court date that Floyd will try to explain himself and his troubling actions toward Josie Harris (the mother of three of his children) to the media in a controlled, well-coordinated manner to stem the tide of negative public opinion.
I don’t know how to explain it, but I don’t think Floyd is “afraid” to fight Manny Pacquiao.
He seems to have put any and all obstacles up that have stopped the fight from progressing to the point of the fighters stepping into the ring at either Cowboys Stadium or the Las Vegas MGM Grand.
Pacquiao seems willing to fight at the drop of the proverbial hat.
Many Mayweather “Haters” have said on many internet sites that Floyd would end up in prison or broke. With his kind of money he’s not going to prison for these established charges.
So some things will have to give eventually and I believe this fight could get back on track with all egos intact within a year.

Sonny in North Dallas: “It seems Mayweather doesn’t want the fight. I don’t get it. He hasn’t fought anyone like Pacquiao but that in itself couldn’t be the reason. If it happens within a year, while both are still in their primes (Floyd is already 33) it would still be a super fight. Much better than when Tyson finally fought Holyfield.”
El Pelon in Uptown: “Floyd just has that complex ego. He’s emotionally charged and not thinking straight about this. I say the fight happens and he’ll come off the drug testing to make this fight happen.
Mike in Addison: “Floyd doesn’t need the fight. If it happens it will be on his terms. That’s just the way it is. Manny will have to deal with that. It might not really be a major concession for Manny anyway. We know Bob Arum doesn’t care if the fight happens as he just wants fights where he controls both fighters.
