CHICAGO – Just like last Saturday, my e-mail this past week was cluttered with questions and comments on Manny Pacquiao’s quest for more fame and fortune as he seeks to derail a featherweight juggernaut named Marco Antonio Barrera in November:
1)Anthony Ross Nanas of Talisay City ([email protected]) – “I just want to clarify some of the contradicting data regarding the Pacquiao-Barrera fight.” This much I know. Both protagonists will fight on Nov. 15, although the venue is still uncertain. The SBC Center in Texas, however, is a leading candidate for fight site. I had previously reported that Manny will earn $150,000 for his trouble. I was wrong. Pacquiao will become $350,000 (before taxes) richer. If Manny wins, he must give Barrera a rematch for a higher fee. If Manny loses, Barrera isn’t mandated to grant a rematch. More importantly, they will tangle at 126 pounds.
