Things have gone from bad to potentially worse for Floyd Mayweather.
A week after garnering public ridicule for his racist rant against Manny Pacquiao on the website Ustream, Mayweather now is a suspect in a domestic violence case for allegedly attacking his baby mama.
Las Vegas police sent multiple patrol cars early yesterday morning to Mayweather’s home, where Josie Harris reported the boxer attacked her. Harris has children with Mayweather, police said. TMZ first reported the story and had video of police outside of Mayweather’s home. Harris reportedly was treated at a hospital for minor injuries and released.
Mayweather apparently was not home when police arrived and was still being sought for questioning as of late last night. Police have characterized him as a person of interest. No warrant has been issued and no charges immediately filed.
“She alleges he hit her,” Officer Barbara Morgan of the Las Vegas police told the Associated Press. “We’re looking for him to get his side of the story. We’re looking to talk to him as a potential suspect.”
Rapper 50 Cent used Twitter to come to Mayweather’s defense, saying he spoke with the boxer before and after the alleged incident. According to 50 Cent, Harris lives in a guesthouse on Mayweather’s estate and the boxer had gone to visit his children.
“He said he asked her why was the house so dirty she started trippin,” 50 Cent tweeted. “He bought nice clothes for his kids they were all over the place. His baby moma said shes not gonna force them to wear clothes they dont want.
“I told him that’s crazy. I know how he felt. I met her before so I told him she would calm down. Can’t believe she called the cops.
“Floyd said he feels like her girlfriend is using her and pushing her in the wrong direction.”
In 2003 Harris accused Mayweather of punching and kicking her inside a car outside a Vegas nightclub. Charges were filed, but later dismissed after Harris recanted her statement.
