Manny Pacquiao has officially commented that he will apply his training program from the fight with Miguel Cotto for his upcoming fight with Antonio Margarito. For Pacquiao, Margarito is the tallest opponent he’s ever faced and also has a win over Cotto.
According to GMANews, Pacquiao said the following:
“We’ll follow the same routine when I was training for my fight against Cotto.”
Training camp begins on September 20th in the Philippines as Alex Ariza and Freddie Roach will be heading over. In addition to his trainers, sparring partner Julio Cesar Chavez Jr will also head over to the Philippines. Eventually, Pacquiao and his team will head to the Wild Card Gym in Los Angeles to complete the training camp sometime next month. Team Pacquiao is confident that Manny only needs 2 months of camp to prepare for his November 13th fight.
I don’t believe Manny can go wrong with this approach. He dominated the bigger Cotto and it makes sense that this training routine will have success with the bigger Margarito. Manny just better make sure he studies some of Margarito’s fights as GMANews is reporting Manny hasn’t seen Antonio fight in person.
