Through Filipino Celebrity Headlines Examiner via Facebook messaging center – In an entertaining yet peculiar fashion, Actor-Congressman Emmanuel “Manny” Pacquiao “gripped Dumaguete” during his visit at the famous American academic institution, Silliman University in Dumaguete City, Philippines last Thursday. That’s the impression Pacquiao left on the young and dynamic Provincial Board member, Jessica “Ikay” Villanueva, of the first district of Oriental Negros.
“I attended the morning forum at the Luce auditorium. It was well represented, if I may say. People from different sectors came to listen,” said Villanueva. “The humble Pacquiao delivered a great inspirational speech.”
“There’s an eagle inside us waiting to be discovered, waiting to be developed,” Pacquiao said in his speech at the Luce Auditorium during the 109th Founders’ Day of the oldest American established university in Asia.
“Pacquiao said he discovered the eagle in him in the midst of poverty, but did not allow the adversaries and difficulties in life from pursuing and reaching his dreams,” according to Juancho Gallarde’s article published Friday by Visayan Daily Star. “He said Pacquiao stated (he) remained focused regardless of the obstacles and did not remove his focus from the target until he was able to grab it.”
“Champions are not afraid of storm, winners are not afraid of problems, leaders are not afraid of challenges, lawyers are not afraid of arguments while eagles do not only survive in the boxing ring, they win world titles. They do not only deliver speeches, they deliver services,” according to Gallarde’s notes of Pacquiao’s speech.
“He told the attendees of successful alumni who are professors, lawyers, doctors, nurses, engineers, businessman and the whole intellectual community, inclusive of visitors, of the university town not to rely on what they knew years ago,” said Gallarde.
“Pacquiao said they have to keep learning, to constantly update themselves,” he added. Motivation is a sweeping generalization. But, its cutting edge impact penetrates our better selves: our souls, our goals, aspirations and deepest yearnings. We reached the moon, through our first American astronauts. Indeed, the mind of…
