The business marriage between Freddie Roach and Manny Pacquiao will have to be considered as an all time best. There have been many trainer/fighter relationships over the years, but I can’t think of many that exceed the success that Freddie Roach and Manny Pacquiao have enjoyed. Freddie Roach saw something in Pacquiao that a lot of others didn’t, and because of that both men have risen to peaks neither of them ever could have expected.
The friendship that both men share has survived through the years despite efforts by some to derail it. No names will be mentioned in this article, but trust me on this one. There have been some that have tried to sabotage the friendship between Roach and Pacquiao, but all efforts have failed.

It’s been quite a journey for both men. Pacquiao rose from having nothing to having everything, and Roach went from a good trainer to a rich trainer, and trainer of the year recipient multiple years in a row. The two men share the most famous name titles as well. Pacquiao is the most famous fighter in the world right now, and Roach is the most famous trainer in the world.
I have witnessed the two men work together in the ring several times. The respect that both men show toward one another is incredible. There is a chemistry that doesn’t always exist in other fighter/trainer relationships, but it does between Freddie and Manny. The friendship, and the business relationship between these two men has led both of them to fame and wealth. The world titles in 7 divisions, the money, the fame, movies, commercials, all of it has got to be considered the most successful one two punch in boxing history.
Mississippians across the state respect these two men as well. There is a picture of Freddie Roach wearing a Southern Miss shirt that hangs in the college. More known for its college football, and home of Brett Favre, the school proudly displays it’s Freddie Roach photo in the school colors just the same.
Best one two punch in boxing history? It has to be at least considered.
