Amir Khan tells Boxing News about Juan Manuel Marquez, Paris Hilton and Ramadan

Khan tells Danny Flexen what he thought of Marquez-Diaz and more EXPLOSIVE: Khan thinks Marquez looked good against Diaz DURING what could be termed an extended holiday from boxing, wherein Amir Khan took in three continents, Bolton?s WBA light-welterweight champion had a superb view in Las Vegas as potential December 11 opponent, Juan Manuel Marquez, defeated Juan Diaz for a second time, via decision on this occasion. Khan liked what he saw and quickly made Mexican veteran Marquez his number one target.

?Marquez boxed really well ? watching that and the latest performances from the top 140-pound fighters in Tim Bradley and Devon Alexander I think Marquez looked the best fighter,? Khan told Boxing News. ?He looked so explosive and fit as well. He stuck to his gameplan, he was strong and you could see nothing wrong in his style. I think he beat him very easily. He?s looking better than Bradley and Alexander.?

Khan has long insisted he?d like his next fight to be in England but with Marquez a star Stateside and Amir himself now based with American promoters Golden Boy, it appears that the US could provide a more likely venue. Not so, says the title-holder.

?If Marquez wants to fight me for my title he can come to England and fight me in front of my home crowd,? Khan declared. ?I?d like the fight to be in England. I had a great meeting with Sky recently and it will be good for me to fight in the UK at normal primetime. I?m looking at December 11 in England.?

Khan is currently adjusting back to ?normal? life in Bolton after a trip that took in Africa, North America and Asia. While away, Khan also met some interesting people.

?It?s been like a world tour,? he joked. ?In the last two months, I went to Egypt on holiday with my friends then from Egypt I went to South Africa for the World Cup, from there I went to Barbados for another holiday, from there I came back, went to America, Pakistan, so I?ve been all over the place. In between I did a bit of training to keep me ticking over.

?I met Paris Hilton in LA. Paris is a nice girl. She just loves partying hard. We said a quick hello but she was being wild, as usual, she went her own way and we went our own way.?

Khan plans to return to LA and trainer Freddie Roach?s Wild Card Gym in October as he is currently adhering to the Islamic month of fasting, Ramadan, limiting just how much he is able to do.

?I?m taking time off all through Ramadan so I can fast,? Khan revealed. ?We all struggle, especially this year because the fast is from 3am until 9.30pm ? it?s a long one. It?s going to be tough but it?ll be nice for my body, give it a detox.

?I?ve got a week in England after and I can stuff myself. I?ll do a little bit of training when I?m allowed to eat. I?ll be raising awareness about the Pakistan [floods] disaster, go to the Mosque, spend time with my family ? I?m away so much it?s nice to sleep in your own bed and spend time with your mum and dad.?
