Manny Pacquiao remains grossly underpaid compared to Floyd Mayweather

mansions with all the placques, title belts, honors and other trinkets that Manny Pacquiao has acquired during his glorious rise to international superstardom.

It can be fairly argued that he is the best pound for pound fighter in the world unless and until Floyd Where Did My Boxing Joy Go? Mayweather can prove otherwise.

It may be said that Pacman is the world’s most famous fighter as well because I think, when it comes toall of Asia and other assorted countries, there are places where the populace knows Pacquiao but is not quite sure who our undefeated American superstar, Mayweather, really is.

(For one example, how about Thailand?)

Now it comes to our attention that, after I wrote a story quoting agent Michael Koncz as saying Megamanny wants more money than first offered by promoter Bob Arum, that the Top Rank honcho told another reporter he would throw some paltry peanuts, something like another half million buckaroos, to the Pinoy Idol.

Bob is certainly no birdbrain but this gesture makes him sound like one, cheap, cheap, cheap.

See what I propose is for Arum to make certain that, when he battles Tone Loc Margarito on Nov. 13 in Las Vegas (I don’t Dallas as the venue, though my recent track record on predictions has been way south of awful), Pacman can add one more key honorific to his list of accomplishments…

In fact, to get the proper marketing mileage out of it, Arum could instruct ring announcer Michael Buffer to mention Manny’s new status at the end of his lengthy introduction of the Fighting Pride of Gensan.

After reciting all his weight class crowns, would you not love to hear Buffer intone like so:….?And the highest paid boxer in the known universe…?

Think of the wow factor.

Arum can accomplish this easily by digging deep.

If Manny really is Numero Uno in so many other categories, then why is he getting paid less than the $22 million reliable sources inform us that ?Money May? came away with from his May 1 bout against Sugar Shane Mosley?

You know it gets tiresome for me, feeding Arum all these costly but bright ideas but..

Let Uncle Bobby fork over $22,000,001.00, meaning 22 million and one United States dollars as Pacquiao’s total fee for this Margarito bout.

That would make Manny higher paid than curerent fistic financial king Mayweather by four quarters at least.

Can’t you hear them cheering now?

Two bits, four bits, six bits, a dollar, all who are happy that Pacman has finally become the highest paid boxer in the world stand up and holler.

Arum might stand up and holler but not in a cheery way. He would be screaming with the pain of his devastated pocket but I’m sure the going on 79 trickster would still find a way to mine a few shekels of profit from the bout.

Making Manny the Money King would also be a big plus going forward to the has to happen Mayweather bout.

Hearing that Pacquiao got paid above and beyond his purse for Mosley could be a crowning blow, at least psychologically.

He might have to start referring to himself as Less Money Than Manny Mayweather, ouch!

I’m sure we’d all feel L’il Floyd’s big pain and commiserate with his mental suffering from this news.

It’s time for Arum, when Manny is at the peak of his powers, to put the peanuts, the relative chicken feed, aisde.

Pay the Congressmanny, Mr. A.

Let him make this financial status his eighth ?division? world crown so to speak.

You know and I know and Bob knows that you and I know that we know and that he knows, that the boxing public knows, that the most exciting and entertaining fighter on the planet is missing a title he?ahem–richly deserves.

Being pound for pound ruler is nice but now Arum should make Pacquiao the dollar for dollar king of the ring.

It would be a brilliant move.
