MANILA, Philippines?Bent on fulfilling his role as lawmaker and at the same time keeping his phenomenal career in the ring, Saranggani Representative Manny Pacquiao said he is prepared to do his training in the vast grounds of the Batasan Pambansa complex where the House of Representatives is situated.
The boxing champ-turned-politician is scheduled to fight Mexican Antonio Margarito either in the United States or in Mexico for the vacant super welterweight championship on November 13.
Pacquiao has yet to miss a session since the 15th Congress opened, and has even delivered a privilege speech about his plans for his impoverished district.
Asked how he intends to juggle his schedule between training for his next fight and attending committee hearings, which are usually in the mornings, and the Monday to Wednesday sessions at 4 p.m., he said, ?I have no problem with that, like what I said, it?s just a matter of time management.?
If needed, Pacquiao said he is prepared to sleep in his office and do his morning exercise routines in the sprawling 16-hectare complex.
?I can sleep in my office, so that I can jog around the complex before the session or hearing,? he said in Filipino.
He said the complex is big enough for his jogging exercises, which usually take an hour.
He added he can also use the gym for his other exercises, but when told that it might not have the equipment he needs, he said in jest, ?Congress has (a) big budget.?
