Floyd Mayweather – Manny Pacquiao, a never ending boxing story that grew a few new wrinkles this past week.
Mayweather continued to flirt with iconic promoter Don King and Pacquiao publicly stated that he hopes this new promoter – fighter relationship will finally bring Money into the ring, even for this November.
While there is enough blame to go around when it comes to the two failed negotiations surrounding a proposed mega-fight between Pacquiao and Mayweather, no party is completely free of guilt.
Must I remind Mr. Pacquiao that he could have had a fight with Floyd Mayweather Junior this past March if he would have agreed to drug testing above and beyond what is demanded by most boxing commissions?
Pacquiao could have already had Mayweather once and proved to the world that he in not a drug cheat.
But Jolly Old Saint Nick was not able to deliver boxing fans the fight they want to see last Christmas, because Pacquiao was scared of a little needle and a few droplets of blood.
So while I am glad to hear that Pacquiao is still interested in the fight, and promoting it by insinuating that Mayweather is a coward, he must remember that he blocked the fight from happening the first time around.
If Manny agrees to stiff battery of drug test in December, we might have been looking at a Mayweather – Pacquiao rematch for November.
