We can make it happen ? Bob Arum

Bob Arum was in a bubbly mood as he was having dinner Sunday (Monday morning in the Philippines) on the other side of the world.

Told about the recent hookup involving Floyd Mayweather and Don King, Arum was quick to say something that leans towards the realization of a dream match starring Mayweather and his fair-haired boy Manny Pacquiao.

?We can make a deal for that fight in the spring of 2011,? said Arum.

King and Mayweather have been spending some quality time the past few days and even though both have declined to say exactly what they?ve been talking about, ringsiders are of the belief that a fight with Pacquiao is one of them.

Negotiations to stage a Pacquiao-Mayweather fight have failed to bear fruit, something King and Arum are if the opinion can be done as they can set aside their differences and storied rivalry for the sake of holding the biggest fight of all time.

?Oh yes, Don and I could make this fight happen,? added Arum, who had teamed up with King in putting up some of the greatest fights in history, starting with the 1975 Thrilla in Manila.

Mayweather hasn?t stated publicly if he is indeed hooking up with King in place of Golden Boy Promotions but Mayweather?s presence in King?s latest show in St. Louis, Missouri, only fuels speculations that they are now playing beautiful music together.

Meanwhile, Arum is pushing forward to a meeting with Texas billionaire Jerry Jones this Wednesday in Dallas to make a deal for a Pacquiao fight with Antonio Margarito of Mexico.

Jones? ultra-modern playground, the Cowboys Stadium, is being looked at as a venue for the Pacquiao-Margarito showdown for the vacant World Boxing Council super-welterweight crown. (Nick Giongco)
