As many jump of his bandwagon following a tough Saturday night victory, Devon Alexander made it loud and clear he wants his next fight o be against Palm Spring?s Timothy Bradley.
Over the course of twelve rounds, Alexander worked hard, dug deep, and decisioned a determined Andriy Kotelink in front of a home crowd in St. Louis, Missouri.
Alexander did not knock-out the Ukrainian or win every round by a wide margin, and in our second by second news cycle, some will view Alexander as a very beatable fighter, not worthy of all the hype revolving around his career as of late.
Regardless of the spin that will be spun, Alexander had one fighter on his mind following his Saturday night victory: Timothy Bradley.
Bradley and Alexander have had a war of words in the media and following his own victory last month, Bradley publicly called out Devon on HBO.
?Devon Alexander,? said Bradley with a fire in his eye and voice, ?I?ll fight you next.?
Alexander returned the favor, by mentioning Bradley and only Bradley during his post-fight interview and even had a prop handy, pulling out a super-sized t-shirt calling out the fighting pride of Palms Springs.
A few questions hang in the balance before a fight can be made, including the location and weight class.
Both Alexander and Bradley draw well in their respective hometowns and if the fight was to take place in St. Louis or Rancho Mirage (nearby Palm Springs), one of the fighters will have a strong home court advantage.
After receiving a unanimous decision victory with official score cards of 116-112 three times, that some fell were too wide, Bradley?s promoter Gary Shaw informed the Los Angeles Boxing Examiner that the fight will not be taking placed in St. Louis.
While Alexander fought in the junior welterweight class last night, Bradley made his debut as welterweight last month.
Will Alexander move up, will Bradley move down, or will the bout take place at a catch-weight?
Shaw was able to confirm that HBO was eyeing a January 29, 2011 date for a Bradley – Alexander broadcast and he would happy to bring his fighter to the table, with one caveat.
?If the money is right,? said the veteran promoter.
