FORMER WBC superflyweight champion Gerry Pe?alosa proved he is still among the cream of Philippine Boxing as he scored a one-sided unanimous decision over Paraguay’s Dario Azuaga in a 10-round non-title fight dubbed “Rage in December” at the Y?ares Center in Antipolo City Saturday night.
Pe?alosa’s victory was highlighted by two knockdowns on his way to identical 100-88 scores from judges Salvador Lopez, Ricardo Canlas and Ramos Flores.

Pe?alosa, the current WBF superflyweight champion, came out aggressive in the early rounds as he brought the fight to the visitor.
Azuaga almost kissed the canvas in the sixth round after he lost his balance because of Pe?alosa’s barrage. Pe?alosa caught him again in the eighth as he decked Azuaga with a hook to the chin and in the ninth with a straight to the face.
After beating both counts, Azuaga never allowed Pe?alosa to get any closer as he used the full width of the ring to escape from danger until the final bell.
The victory improved Pe?alosa’s standing to 49-5-2 with 33 knockout wins. Azuaga dropped to 66-7, (57KOs). (
