Jose Luis “Maestro” Lopez has taken over as Erik Morales’s chief trainer, following the departure of father/trainer Jose Morales. The change came after Morales’s dissapointing performance against Zaheer Rahim last September in Los Angeles.
Morales intends to remain in camp through the Christmas and New Years Hollidays in order to be in the best shape possible.
Morales will face Manny Pacquiao on January 21, 2006, in Las Vegas; a rematch of their exciting battle last May, in which Morales came away victorious.
