How quickly things change. All eyes seem to be on Antonio Margarito as Manny’s next opponent, quickly brushing Floyd Mayweather Jr aside. To be honest? I am sick of the entire Mayweather saga. It’s actually a breath of fresh air that we finally pretty much know who Manny’s next opponent is going to be. Now everyone can focus on the fight at hand.
Pacquiao would rather fight Mayweather, but Margarito will do. The first 5 or 6 rounds of this fight should prove to be pretty exciting. I like the way Margarito fights, a real come forward type brawler. Of course we all know how Manny fights, so add the two styles together, and you have some explosive action at hand.
Pacquiao Vs. Margarito is once again a bigger guy against a smaller guy. Pacquiao has already removed any shadow of a doubt that he can handle bigger fighters. Will Margarito change history? I’m guessing not, but hey you never know in boxing. One punch can change everything in boxing, but you have to land it. Manny’s speed will once again create big issues for his opponent, and as the rounds go on that will be evident on Margarito’ face.
Floyd’s name is quickly being replaced in the headlines as the sport and its fans move on. Yes, most people wanted to see Floyd and Manny fight, but now that Mayweather has passed, on we go to the next challenger. Personally, I do not think that Margarito deserves this opportunity, but if it’s going to be him, at least an opponent has been chosen.
I spoke with Freddie Roach the other day and he said this, “Floyd will end up signing the deal once he loses a few more bets in Vegas.”

Mississippians are pretty happy that there has been a new opponent named. Most of the people in and around the Jackson, MS area that I have spoken with were growing tired of the Floyd Mayweather saga as well. Patrick Turner, who is the Assistant Mississippi Athletic Director said it best, “Floyd has benefited greatly from the sport of boxing, it’s time he gives back to the sport and fights Manny.” Well this has not happened yet, so we have to move on and hope for a good fight between Pacquiao and Margarito.
It looks like it’s Margarito Vs. Pacquiao in November. Floyd who?
