When I look at the recent actions of Floyd Mayweather Jr and David Haye, I’m reminded of the old-English saying “Birds of a feather flock together”. In this case, these two boxers are committing the same cowardly act. They are both avoiding the top challengers in their respective weight classes. Simply put, they are acting like chickens. Let’s examine further:
David Haye has been publicly “called out” by both Klitschko brothers. This feud between Haye and the brothers started over a year ago and each time fight negotiations come up, Haye comes off as the one backing out. Just recently, Haye rejected a fight with Wladimir Klitschko and sources cite money as the major factor for the negotiations falling through. “David [Haye] is keen on fighting one of the Klitschko brothers. But the devil is in the financial details. There are multiple parties with a financial stake in Haye?s fights. Haye earns as much money in the UK as the Klitschkos earn in Germany. Therefore, that makes reaching a deal much more difficult. We have to insist on a sensible financial agreement.? German Promoter Kalle Sauerland, Telegraph.co.uk In my opinion, Haye bit off more than he can chew. Haye has angered the Russian brothers to the point of no return. They are out for blood and rightfully so. David crashed an event last year wearing a shirt that illustrated the Klitschkos with decapitated heads and Haye holding the heads. There have also been numerous exchanges of words between the two sides as well.
