It’s been a long drawn out, frustrating ordeal waiting for the conclusion of this whole Mayweather Vs. Pacquiao situation. There are some people calling Floyd Mayweather a coward. Some of these very people are trying to bring nationality into play, calling him “the American coward” something that does not sit so well with Americans. Because of this, many Americans are all but begging Floyd to sign this contract.
America is home to some of the bravest warriors that ever stepped into the ring. Long before Manny Pacquiao and the Filipino rising, American prize fighters were going to war, and making history. So, is Floyd Mayweather Jr really a coward? There have been thousands and thousands of comments calling him as such, but is he really? Is Floyd Mayweather Jr really a coward? Is it even possible to call a man who gets into a ring and fights other people for a living a coward? Does it have any merit whatsoever?
What will those who call Floyd a coward say if Manny loses? Will they make up excuses, and not give credit where credit is due? I think some will not, but the majority of Pacquiao’s fans I believe will respect Floyd’s victory, although it would be a very tough pill to swallow.
I was in Southaven, Mississippi yesterday for the Ishe Smith Vs. Fernando Guerrero press conference. I spoke with Ishe about Floyd and the recent sparring sessions that he has had with him. Ishe said that Floyd looks amazing in the gym, “Floyd is looking very good. I got some great sparring in with him, and anytime that you can help a guy get ready for the biggest fight of his career, it’s an honor.”
Floyd Mayweather Jr has a BIG decision to make. His legacy will most definitely take a hit if he does not sign this contract. While I was in Southaven, Mississippi for the Smith Vs. Guerrero Press Conference, I ran into Al Haymon sidekick, Sam Watson. I asked him one thing as he was walking by, “Sam is Floyd going to sign that contract?” Watson smiled, and said, “He’ll sign it.”
Time will tell if that much is true, let us hope that he does and the two combatants can handle business in the ring.
