DESPITE losing his first battle with Erik Morales, Manny Pacquiao is still the favorite when he squares off with the Mexican in a rematch on January 21 at the Thomas and Mack Arena in Las Vegas.
Pacquiao was listed a 7-5 to beat Morales in their 130-pound clash as announced by Wynn Las Vegas Sportsbook Director John Avello during a press conference announcing the fight in Beverly Hills, California Tuesday.
Morales, according to a report by the leading boxing website fightnews.com, reacted by saying the odds will motivate him to train harder.
“This will make me train even harder,” Morales was quoted by the site as saying.
The odds amazed Bob Arum, Morales’ promoter, but did not come as a surprise to Gary Shaw, Pacquiao’s promoter.
Pacquiao and Morales engaged in a classic fight last March, with the latter winning via a close decision also in Las Vegas.
The Filipino boxer is scheduled to arrive in the country late this week to start his rigorous training in Cebu.
