Casimero’s fight vs. Hirales postponed

JOHNREIL Casimero won’t be seeing action this weekend just yet, because his interim World Boxing Organization (WBO) light flyweight title defense against Ramon Garcia Hirales was moved to a later date and a different venue.

Casimero, who is 14-0 with eight knockouts, was scheduled to take on Hirales this Sunday in the Mexican’s backyard but was pushed back because of the television schedule.

“The July 3 (date) is definitely postponed because of promotional problems,” international promoter Sammy Gello-ani said.

Gello-ani said the world title bout will be delayed by one to three weeks. And although the venue shifts, it will still be in Mexico.

“The fight will still be within this month,” said Gello-ani.

Despite the slight change of schedule, the 21-year-old Casimero isn’t bothered and is still training at the new Omega Boxing and Workout Gym in Mabolo for his upcoming first world title defense.

“He is doing the necessary adjustments because of the postponement. So far his training is going well,” said Gello-ani.
