FILIPINO BOXING SUPERSTAR MANNY Pacquiao remains the only Asian to have landed on the pound-for-pound rankings released by Ring Magazine, the acknowledged bible of boxing.
This time, he has soared even higher on the list.
For the period ending Nov. 10 this year, Pacquiao has been listed the No. 4 best fighter on the planet, even edging out Erik Morales, Bernard Hopkins and Ricky Hatton.
This took into account Pacquiao’s smashing win over Hector Velazquez and Morales’ defeat at the hands of Zahir Raheem on the same card in the US recently.
The only three fighters ranked higher than Pacquiao, in order, are Floyd Mayweather, the undisputed junior welter king; Winky Wright, undisputed junior middleweight ruler; and Marco Antonio Barrera, the WBC-IBF super featherweight champ.
Barrrera, however, can not be considered “undisputed,” as he has yet to beat Pacquiao in order to gain the respect of boxing scholars who tabulated it for the Ring Magazine.
Ranked next to Pacquiao are Juan Manuel Marquez, Erik Morales, Ricky Hatton, Jose Luis Castillo, Jermain Taylor and Bernard Hopkins.
Pacquiao is currently in the United States, taking part in a promotional blitz in Las Vegas together with Morales to drum up their Jan. 21 rematch.
He will then proceed to the Wild Card Gym in Los Angeles for his workout, before taking part again in another promotional effort on Tuesday.
