Marco Antonio Barrera W UD10 Adilton De Jesus
Future hall-of-famer Marco Antonio Barrera systematically broke down and out-pointed Adilton De Jesus over ten rounds in the co-main event of ?Latin Fury 15: La Furia de M?xico? moments ago at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. Barrera (who weighed in above 140 pounds for the bout) started quickly out of the gate and stalked De Jesus behind an authoritative jab. The Mexican legend was conservative with his attack but was sharp in making sure that each punch counted. Opting to take his time, Barrera invested in a bruising body attack in the early rounds and really dug his punches in to De Jesus?s mid section.
In the middle round De Jusus loosened up a bit and asserted himself in the fight but the veteran Barrera was cagey with his defense. Down the stretch the earlier work to the body began to pay off for Barrera and he pulled away on the scorecards as he picked up the pace late. After ten rounds were complete all three judges had Barrera ahead by scores of 100-90, 99-91, and 98-92. The victory was Barrera?s first bout back since a March 2009 technical-decision loss to Amir Khan and moved the modern day legend to an impressive 66-7 (43 KOs). Barrera will continue fighting as he looks to become the first Mexican fighter to capture a title in four different weight classes.
