REPORTING FROM Los Angeles, lawyer Keith Davidson said Manny Pacquiao is supremely confident of getting back at Mexican tormentor Erik Morales when they collide in a rematch at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas on Jan. 21, 2006.
One of the fighter’s handlers, Davidson had dinner with Pacquiao on Friday night (Saturday morning in Manila) shortly after the Filipino hotshot flew in from Manila on board Philippine Airlines.
“I saw him odd after we had dinner,” Davidson told the Bulletin. “He drove to Las Vegas with some friends and he will be a special guest at The Wynn owned by Steve Wynn.”
Davidson said Pacquiao should be back in Los Angeles on Sunday night in time for the official press conference at the Beverly Hills Hotel where he will be billeted until his departure for Manila on Tuesday night.
Pacquiao and Morales are going to be interviewed by such well-known scribes like Steve Springer of The Los Angeles Times, Carlos Arias of the Orange County Register and famed broadcaster/writer Rich Marotta.
Moments before boarding the PAL jet that left Manila at 10 p.m., Pacquiao said he is aching to rumble with Morales, who dealt him a unanimous decision loss the first time they tangled on March 19 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
Pacquiao has already notified his close associate Wakee Salud that he will begin training as soon as he arrives in the country.
Salud has already laid out a strict itinerary for Pacquiao in Cebu City.
“Manny’s arrival here is keenly awaited. He will get plenty of quality training here because of the abundance of top sparmates and high-level training facilities,” Salud assured from his homebase in the Queen City.
