That?s tough to tell. Because things have hardly been bigger than these:
CJ Suarez, crashing the lanes with impunity, and almost anonymously, found his face splashed on the front pages of national dailies when he won the prestigious World Cup contested by the world?s top bowlers.
Suarez earned his berth the hard way, needing to beat the Netherlands?s Marcel van den Bosch in the finals to write himself a ticket to bowling immortality. Only two Filipinos have won the World Cup, the other, Guinness entry Paeng Nepumuceno, who won it a record four times.
The year was certainly the biggest for bowling in recent memory. Before the Suarez feat, the lady?s trios team of Liza Clutario, Liza del Rosario and Cecilia Yap ended a 20-year drought for the country and broke a world record for aggregate scores held by Japan and Korea.
