The controversial, yet strangely entertaining, Yahoo Sports rankings are out again. Each month, Kevin Iole polls the “expert” panelists to get their top 10 pound-for-pound fighters in Boxing. Last month, Yahoo vaulted Floyd Mayweather Jr over Manny Pacquiao to the top of their P4P rankings which caused a lot of controversy. Well, this month is more of the same Mayweather mania that we’ve come to expect from Yahoo. And, just like last month, they got it wrong. Let’s examine further: Floyd Mayweather Jr’s ‘camp’ continues to deny having any fight negotiations with Manny Pacquiao Yahoo’s Top 10 P4P: 1. Floyd Mayweather Jr 2. Manny Pacquiao 3. Paul Williams 4. Chad Dawson 5. Juan Manuel Marquez 6. Sergio Martinez 7. Wladimir Klitschko 8. Timothy Bradley 9. Andre Ward 10. Shane Mosley First Place Votes Floyd Mayweather Jr received 22 of the 40 first place votes and had a point total of 382. Last month, Floyd Jr had 317 total points with 20 of the 33 first place votes. In comparison, Manny Pacquiao had 18 of the 40 first place votes this month with a point total of 378. Last month, Manny had 13 first place votes with a point total of 310. Gaining Ground With the additional 7 voters, Manny closed the gap in 1st place votes and total points. However, this just means that there are still too many people that foolishly think Floyd Mayweather Jr is the best P4P fighter. It’s clear that both Manny and Floyd are the 2 best P4P fighters in Boxing but Yahoo once again has them in the wrong order.
