THERE is a strong possibility that Manny Pacquiao will miss the annual awards night of the Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) on Jan. 9 at the Manila Pavillon.
Named as co-winner for the coveted Athlete of the Year plum by the PSA along with World Cup champion bowler CJ Suarez, Pacquiao might not be able to make it back in time for the awards night since he is slated to leave for New York with business manager Rod Nazario on Jan. 4.
Pacquiao and Nazario are scheduled to hold talks with executives of HBO concerning a possible featherweight title clash between the Filipino lefty and heavy-handed Mexican champ Juan Manuel Marquez in late-March or early-April probably in Las Vegas.
