Floyd Mayweather Jr can forget “bullying” Manny Pacquiao into giving him his lunch money. Reports are coming out that Manny Pacquiao quickly and promptly rejected Floyd Mayweather Jr’s demands for a larger fight purse. According to Ronnie Nathanielsz of Philboxing, Mayweather Jr was demanding a 60-40 purse split.

Unfortunately, they were berated by Bob Arum afterwards for expressing their opinions and stating that Manny wouldn’t accept these demands. I think they can breathe a little easier, now that further details have been leaked to the media that basically back up what they stated. According to the same reports, Team Pacquiao submitted 3 different offers to Team Mayweather which were ultimately brushed aside by Mayweather’s desire for a larger share of the fight purse. I personally would like to know what the purse splits were in these offers. Did Manny ask for 50/50 in each offer or did he concede a few percentage points to Floyd Mayweather Jr? I’m hoping that Manny stuck to his guns and refused anything other than a 50/50 split. I don’t think Manny should concede in any way to Mayweather’s money demands. Manny conceded to the drug testing demands and agreed to a drug cut-off date of 14 days, albeit 6 months after Floyd originally suggested it. However, the drug testing issue was one that Manny needed to compromise on. The money issue isn’t. In fact, if Manny wanted to be really selfish he could change his mind and go with a 21-28 day cutoff for blood testing. Manny could cite the expert testimony from the latest NSAC public hearing as proof that blood testing too close to a fight could be dangerous for a fighter. Unlike Mayweather, Manny actually has some integrity and won’t go back on his word.
