It will be boxing event full of fanfare.
Thus said Tagbilaran City Mayor Dan Neri Lim of the boxing card the Boholanos will host on Nov. 19 featuring Boholano Rey “Boom-Boom” Bautista’s WBO Asia-Pacific bantamweight title defense against Obote “African Thunder” Ameme.
“We will do better than any of the Las Vegas fanfare,” said Lim.
Other fight
Bautista’s title defense will top bill the “Bakbakan sa Tagbilaran” at the Carlos P. Garcia Sports Complex, which will also feature Czar Amonsot challenging for the WBO Asia-Pacific jr. lightweight title against Indonesian champion Victor Mausol.
Bautista will defend his belt for the second time against Ameme, who comes from Tanzania, East Africa. The African fighter holds a 27-9 win-loss record, with 22 KOs.
Among the celebrities to attend the card is 2005 Star In A Million champion Jerome Sala, who is also a Boholano. He will sing the Philippine National Anthem.
Manila Mayor Lito Atienza will award the championship belt to the winner of the Bautista-Ameme fight, while Philippine Basketball Association commissioner Noli Eala will also watch the fight.
