Japanese #3 ranked local prospect Daigoro Yamamoto (10-2-3, 8 KOs), 141, came off the canvas in the third and finally finished OPBF #2 super-light Dindo Castanares (17-4-2, 13 KOs), 141, for the count at 2:58 of the seventh round in a scheduled ten on Sunday in Osaka, Japan. It’s a Fight of the Month in Japan. The Filipino puncher landed a wicked right cross counter to the Japanese opponent, flooring him in the third, when Yamamoto began to bleed from the nostrils, and Castanares from the mouth. The fourth saw Yamamoto retaliate with a solid right and had him staggering effectively. They kept swapping all they had in the fifth and sixth. Yamamoto’s right counter, in round seven, decked Castanares so badly that he stood up but became rubbery-legged like a sleep walker such as Trevor Berbick in his fight with Mike Tyson, raising himself up and down while the ref competing the count. Yamamoto, who decked an important victory, wishes to have an ambitious shot at the OPBF belt against Jungbum Kim early next year.
Undercard: The following were all supporting ten rounders. Takashi Miura (7-1-1, 4 KOs), 129.25, displayed a fine form in scoring a one-punch knockout over Thailander Wanghin Chuwatana (4-6-1, 1 KO), 129.25, with a straight right at 2:46 of the fourth. Takeshi Mitsuyama (5-1, 3 KOs), put on a lackluster performance but finally dug a solid body shot to Thailander Weerachai Chuwatana (8-11, 4 KOs), 125.75, dropping him for the count at 1:58 of the seventh. Thailand’s Krongchai Sor Thiabkhun (6-5, 3 KOs), 112, stunned the spectators with his unexpectedly quick demolition of previously unbeaten Japanese Tatsuma Ohora (7-1-1, 2 KOs), 112, at 2:22 of the first round, as he floored the loser with a right uppercut and finally sank him with a strong right following solid combinations.
