GENERAL SANTOS CITY — The 1st Congressman Manny Pacquiao Tri-Media Bowling Tournament is set to be launched on Monday, (June 14) with big cash prizes up for grabs.
The opening rites will be held 1 p.m. Monday at 5M Bowling Lanes along the National Highway here, according to Lee Ann Omega, personal secretary of Sarangani Congressman-elect Manny Pacquiao.
Omega called the event as Pacquiao’s way of thanking the members of the tri-media here for their support on his boxing career and for making a balanced and objective coverage of the May 10 elections.
Omega will represent Pacquiao during the opening ceremony, which is expected to be attended by local working journalists here.
Pacquiao’s personal aide claimed the tournament is intended only for local journalists.
“I facilitated the printing of 200 t-shirts for distribution to participating journalists during the opening ceremony,” Omega said.
There were reports here that Pacman has reportedly set aside P1 million as cash prizes for the champion and for the first, second and third runners up. There will also be prizes for the highest team spinner and highest individual spinner, according to reports
But Omega did not confirm the reports.
“The only instruction I got was to work out the printing of 200 t-shirts,” she said.
Omega added that Pacquiao and his family left the United States on Sunday and he’s expected to arrive in Manila on Monday.
