If Manny Pacquiao does eventually fight Floyd Mayweather Jr, what happens after that? Will he call it a career? What else does Manny have to prove after Mayweather? Will he hang up the gloves and dedicate his time to his political career? Another question is, will Manny be like other fighters and retire, then un-retire? Mayweather rematch? Trilogy? The sky is the limit for Manny Pacquiao.
Freddie Roach is ready for whatever Manny decides to do. I spoke with Freddie Roach a few days ago and asked him for his thoughts on Manny’s future, ” If we get the right fight, (Mayweather) I will suggest to him that he retire after that. I don’t think he will though, but we will see.”
If Manny did choose to retire after Mayweather there would be an awful void in boxing. It would be like a black hole in space, even light wouldn’t be able to escape it! Pacquiao fans across the world would suffer withdrawals. I for one think that Manny has about 3 fights left in him. Two of them may very well be against Floyd Mayweather. That wouldn’t be such a bad deal.
Regardless of how many more fights Manny has left in him, the end will eventually arrive. Who will Manny hand the torch too when he does retire? There will never be another Manny Pacquiao, that much is certain, but is there anybody out there that the sport can look to that will fill Manny’s shoes? Nobody can completely fill Manny’s shoes, but is there anyone that can halfway do it?

Someone like Pacquiao only comes around once every 30 or so years. Pacquiao has a following here in Mississippi as well. The Filipino community in Mississippi obviously follow his career, but it goes beyond just the Filipino community. Manny has fans across the spectrum in Mississippi.
The Assistant Director of the Mississippi Athletic Commission, Patrick Turner recently commented on how huge a fight with Manny and Mayweather would be. His point was well taken by this writer, he spoke about how boxing has given Mayweather everything, so it’s time for him to give back to boxing. Turner said, ” Boxing has given Mayweather a lot over the years, he should give back to boxing and make this fight happen.”
Pacquiao will only fight for so long and then his chapter in boxing will be closed. His legacy is already set in stone, his spot in the Hall of Fame is waiting for him, and the historians will have plenty to say about his historic career.
