With the Floyd Mayweather Jr fight up in the air, many are speculating as to who Manny Pacquiao will face. Will it be Juan Manual Marquez, newly crowned Miguel Cotto, or Antonio Margarito?
The former welterweight champion confirmed to this reporter that he’s still in the running to fight Manny Pacquiao if the fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr fails to happen. “Bob has repeatedly mentioned my name to be in the running if Mayweather decides not to fight Pacquiao.” Margarito, Fight Sports Examiner Bob Arum has been campaigning to get Margarito licensed again in this country. He’s also said numerous times that Margarito will be the most likely choice to face Manny if it’s not Floyd Jr.
In fact, just after the Miguel Cotto fight, Arum said once again that Margarito was an option. “Margarito or a rematch with Miguel Cotto, either one is a possibility for Pacquiao” Last month, Antonio Margarito told this reporter that he would beat Manny Pacquiao and take his title if they fought: “Pacquiao is known as the “Mexican Assassin”, but he hasn’t fought this Mexican. This is a fight that my country people want. They know that I will beat Pacquiao and strip him of that title.
