Alex Ariza’s dismissal of USADA testing is just foolish. Perhaps, he should just ‘shut up’

I might not always agree with everything Floyd Mayweather Jr and the USADA have to say, but I surely disagree with Alex Ariza when he says that random blood and urine testing have no place in boxing. The world class trainer of Manny Pacquiao and Amir Khan, is absolutely wrong on this topic. In a recent interview with Lem Satterfield, Ariza completely bashed the USADA and its chief executive Travis Tygart. Let’s examine further.

Complete Fanhouse interview with Alex Ariza Victor Conte beat the USADA “BALCO [founder Victor Conte] was beating USADA for the past five years. They’ve probably tested his [Conte’s] athletes 300 times and they never really got caught. I mean, who have they really caught?” If Conte can beat the USADA then what do you think he does the Athletic commissions who have inferior testing than the USADA? This is not an argument for getting rid of the USADA. This is more of an argument for the commissions and the USADA to develop better testing and work together to preserve the integrity of this sport. Travis is not an athlete, needs to shut up Travis doesn’t know this sport. He’s never laced up a pair of boxing gloves and put them on. Travis is not an athlete himself, like that. Travis needs to shut up. He needs to go back and to sit behind a desk and answer phone calls and shut up. This is a real sport. These guys train hard. We don’t need these guys and their little kits showing up when these fighters are in the midst of training and making weight and doing the real work. Tygart might not fully understand the sport of Boxing but he does know about PEDs and drug testing. I’ve personally had a few conversations with the man and he is well informed on drug testing and cheating. During the pre-fight training camp is the most crucial time to make sure tests are being done. Seriously, when do you think cheaters would take PEDs? Only during the off-season? Of course, it would be during a period of time that leads up to a fight or whatever event they participate in. This is when they can maximize the results of the PEDs. If Ariza truly thinks this highly of the sport of boxing then he should welcome all the help he can get into protecting and preserving the integrity of the sport.
