Flash Report: Here we are back to the future! Repealing and replacing the protocol of the Nevada Athletic Commission to fortify drug testing to the model from USADA’s regimens, as many believe, still do not deter one from successfully using PEDs. Even Floyd Landis’ admissions of blood doping, accusations against Lance Armstrong, have put federal agents in high gear.
Don’t think that USADA’s drug testing regimens are definitive. Even athletes who have been doping for several years were tested negative by the same agency. Recent research in France and Australia have noted that conventional micro-dosing of testosterones and EPOs cannot be detected by blood tests.
Now, does the public really have the assurance that our athletes are drug-free even after passing the said USADA drug testing regimens, inclusive of Floyd Mayweather, Jr who claims to be drug-free?
While others express doubts of his claim, this author believes he has not taken any PEDs.
But, still the debates go on. Forget about drug testing issue! Floyd Mayweather, Jr. must solidify his fanbase.
Fact is, Pacquiao has taken a huge slice of Mayweather, Jr.’s market share, even from his own ethnic group. According to Mix Media Lorne McGrew’s survey, four out of ten African-Americans think that Pacquiao is the Pound-for-Pound King, and also they believe Pacquiao can easily beat Mayweather, Jr. on November 13, if their boxing match is set to final.
Now, this statistics alone surely hurts Mayweather, Jr., to which may have feared the boxing mafia of a potential bane vacuum in boxing, if ever Pacquiao leaves the sport. Yahoo!Sports and BoxREc’s decision to put Mayweather, Jr. on No.1 spot, despite being previously ranked as No. 2 before his fight with Mosley who was ranked as No.3, must be the most plausible option to keep boxing alive.
But, consider this: Still, out of over 40 million Black Americans, Mayweather, Jr. is a ‘household name’ and their well-adored ‘Pretty Boy’, especially among the younger generation. That’s his true fanbase, plus small segments of other ethnic groups and Caucasians at very small percentages – almost negligible, according to African-American media agency, Mix Media.
Mayweather, Jr. believes he is still the main draw in boxing and even in the world of wrestle mania.
What about his potential play in the Hollywood filming industry?
Can Manny Pacquiao really edge out Floyd Mayweather, Jr.’s influence in the entertainment cirlce?
Whether you like it or not, Pacquiao’s entry into the American soil has not delivered a terse and lucid sign of most profound acting techniques despite his real event experience before the cameras each time he deals with HBO crews. He is such a natural talented boxer whose footwork has been criticized by Emmanuel Stewart as awkward.
But, his victories in the ring of brutal sport has somehow found a way to live truthfully under the imaginary circumstances of keeping his unique style and personality alive in HBO’s 24/7 and on each fight night he conquers. He has penetrated the deepest core of the American culture of brutal sports.
Nevertheless, we can learn something from Pacquiao’s uniqueness and his winning personality.
One of the most important tasks Pacquiao faces is working smoothly with the people around him, irrespective of their personalities and unique impressions of him.Though conflict is the essence of Team Pacquiao’s cohesiveness, it is the upliftment of his virtues that keep the group together: (1) humility; (2) consideration; (3) generosity; (4) tact. These virtues keep Pacquiao rise above petty disturbances and beyond outrage, even makes him likable with some from the Black American community. That, itself, makes Mayweather, Jr. and his cohorts uncomfortable.
Even President Barak Obama, who may have admired Pacquiao, would rather refrain from having a picture with him, to avoid hurting Mayweather, Jr.’s feelings being the lonesome modern boxing hero of this glorious land.
Meanwhile, Pacquiao knows the proper way to perform stage combat, which can be his best ‘outfit’ outside of fist fights. He knows how to knock sense into a friend. Meaning, he schools himself to act upon his own perceptions courageously and unhesitatingly, that which makes him acceptable in the mainstream market of America.
