Floyd Mayweather, Remember this? Those who made the law also made the trap..

Translated by Jorge Aguila (Boxerfacts)

The silence is the only friend who never will betray us. ?Confucius ?? Without a doubt, the silence seen from that perspective is a virtue. In many occasions is good and healthy to keep our mouth shot, maintaining our sanity in mind and spirit, which is something that we barely see these days on many of us.

This virtue is something that we hardly see in the world of boxing, because most boxers need to show their supremacy even before the fights begin. As a result of this, we have seen personalities like Ali, and ?Macho Camacho? fighters who with the ability of using words to their advantage, warmed up its fights in search of the attention and the demand of the fans.

Occasionally these things keep us entertain and in others occasion as is the case of Ricardo Mayorga the words are a bit too harsh, even though Mayorga is my countryman, this is something that nobody can refute.

Floyd Mayweather Jr has an undenying ability to put a psychological pressure on their rivals. It is clear that this is something that is part of the sport therefore is a legitimate resource that Floyd uses with every opponent that he has. It also helps him to climb the top of the mountain in terms of PPV. In the other hand Manny ?The Pacman? Pacquiao possesses a different style, due in part to his cultural background and personality. Asian people have a different way of life compare to Western civilization. In the Asian culture we still can see values that sometimes it seen like we have lost in the Western hemisphere, like honor for example. I refer to this is only in an allegorical sense of course. I don?t say that we don?t have it, but these people have a different frame of mind?an example ?The Kamikaze?.

Probably the reason for which Manny pushed Floyd?s requirements back have an answer in what I had mention above, the doubt, the suspicion and dishonor walk together. The demands of Floyd sowed a seed that germinate at the speed of light. It was like lightning a wick directly to a tank of gunpowder, in which was set a pot of glycerin. The effect caused by the demand of the random tests produced a hecatomb. It caught Pacquiao by surprise and all of the sudden it looks like Many was very disconcerted in odder to handle this matter. Even more when other boxers like Malignaggi, Cintr?n and Mosley stated their opinion in favor of the random test.

Now is maybe too late for the defamation?s lawsuit that was started in the state of Nevada against the Mayweather?s, Oscar and Schaeffer. I don?t believe that Many could benefit from this lawsuit or that he could clear his name and honor from all the damage that those allegations had provoke. This event has become more than a boxing fight, because it has show the idiosyncrasy of a community that is represented by Pacquiao on one side his supporters and in the other side his detractors.

The warnings have a limit, to exalt the nationalistic consciences of both teams it is counter-productive and that?s getting out of their hands. It could be like some people suspect, that is all part of the ?marketing game? but maybe not, promoters, trainers, boxers, casual fans and not casual fans have all been drag to this affair. The digital and printed media also play an important role in all this. Sometimes the media can lose the notion of what it is made and said. If the fight is not ready for the reasons that had been stated before, then the best thing is that it doesn?t happen at all. I believe that we are crossing the world of reality into a world of fantasy, in which the sport is the one who is getting harm at the end.

It looks like those who are supposed to find solutions in order to make the fight happen are the one who are trying the less, I got tired already ? now it seems like instead of wanting to see a fight between two of the best exponents that the sport has to offer, some fans just push for anti-doping tests and others garbs torn swearing that they shouldn?t be allowed. Screw Them!! I just want my sport back Co?o! I once wrote ?That the damages a boxer could suffer once it enters the claws of the PPV?s and promoters would be irreversible? This sport has turned into a disaster. The emulation to make money at any cost has destroyed the little that was left.

A few days ago I mention that this situation could bring some benefits to the sport due that it can be possible that it would sit a precedent for finding a more effective method in search of illegal drugs, but I am no longer sure of this because the magnates of the sport suspecting this would try to destroy it. Remember ?Those who build the Law make the Pitfall?.

Perhaps it has never been a better moment to say ?old times were the best time? you could see some crazy things but the essence of the sport was still alive, this is not a part of the initial phrase of the topic that occupies me today, but if I keep quiet I could exploit from anger after seeing how some hooligans have led my beloved sport into the shame in which appears today.

There are other phrases that we could say in relation to ?silence?, but I prefer to end with the following ?And I still can?t fit what I feel in all of what I don?t say.? Pedro C. de la Barca
