This thing can go one of two ways. We will either get the breaking news that Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr have agreed to terms or we will hear that the negotiations have broken down, and there will be no fight.
It’s been interesting reading all of the comments from both sides. There’s a lot of passion and loyalty, it’s evident when you read some of the things that people are saying. Even with all of what has been said by both sides (fans) it’s small in comparison. Once this fight gets announced, or not, all hell will break loose.

If the fight does get made, I look forward to the HBO 24/7 episodes that will follow. The Mayweather’s are no strangers to smack talk, and Freddie Roach can hold his own in rebuttal. When it comes to work ethic, both of these fighter’s train like no other. There is a lot said about how hard Pacquiao trains for his camps. He truly does, I have seen it many times with my own eyes. With that being said, Floyd Mayweather Jr trains just as hard.
If this fight does get made the level of intensity on both sides will go way up. Fans will dig their heels into the sand deeper. The two very best fighters in the world on a collision course. The pound for pound king title on the line. Leading up to the fight there will be the HBO 24/7 series. There will be tons of articles on boxing sites. The fans will be at each others throats in the boxing forums. Then the fight will arrive and crime in Manila will come to a stop. The boxing world will tune in and we will see who the pound for pound king will be after the fight.
If this fight does not get made, there will be a lot of disappointed fans. There will be a big question that will not get answered. Who would have won? There will be a lot of people attacking Mayweather’s legacy. Some will question Pacquiao and the usage of steroids. The unfounded accusations toward Pacquiao concerning steroids will surface again. If the fight is not made you can bank on the lawsuit that was filed by Pacquiao will proceed forward.
Mississippians are dying for this fight. Recently I was in Tunica, Mississippi covering the Shawn Porter fight. I spoke with the NABO champ about this fight and got his thoughts on it. Porter is promoted by Mississippi based Prize Fight Promotions and recently headlined in Tunica. Shawn sparred with Pacquiao in the Philippines, “This is going to be a close fight. Manny is an amazing fighter, and I had the honor to work with him. I hope that this fight does happen.” Porter went on to say, ” This fight is too close to call, it’s a pickem fight.”
Right now although the waters a bit choppy, it’s really the calm before the storm. When the announcement is made either way, the storm is on the horizon.
