Who is the best pound for pound fighter today? Who is the most influential and popular fighter?
Should those questions even be asked?
It is often said that the best becomes the source of inspiration to many and are often immitated.
If that is the case then the best and most popular fighter today is Manny ‘Congressman’ Pacquiao. The ‘Pambansang Kamao’ as he is often called, since he has inspired many Filipinos to be proud of their heritage while showing the value of perseverance and hard work.
His popularity has also caused many Manny Pacquiao impersonators such as Manny Poohquiao and Manny Paksiw to pop out.
But now comes a different, refreshing and original take in giving appreciation to Manny Pacquiao. It is the ‘Minny Pacquiao Show,’ a show about his shortest biggest fan.
It was created by Filipino American actor Erick Esteban, the founder of OneTooProductions and the star of his one man show of A Fight Club For One. He was also a cast member of the highly touted play The Romance of Magno Rubio.
Erick Esteban first got the idea of doing the show while doing an impromptu impersonation of Manny Pacquiao with another comedian who was mimicking Tyson.
Started as only a Youtube comedy sketch, the crew of the show have now ventured into covering boxing when they were invited by Top Rank to cover the Melligen fight. Since then they have been invited to numerous boxing events and will be in New York June 5th to cover the Cotto vs Foreman fight in Yankees Stadium,
There is even a plan to create a cartoon version of the Youtube sketch comedy in collaboration with Ricecooker Studios to promote the Filipino culture to a wider audience.
Not only that ‘Minny Pacquiao’ has been invited to the one of the biggest Filipino gatherings in the United States, the Kababayan Fest to perform with other entertainers such as Joey Guila, Pereotix, We Are Heroes, Jay R and many others.
But before that he will be in hosting the Philippine Fair in San Diego this Saturday May 29th at Kimball Park, where some of the guest will be GMA stars such as Wendell Ramos, Jay R along with Patricia Javier.
