MANILA, Philippines ? Seven-division world boxing champion and Ring Magazine pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao lauded the recent victories of Filipinos who fought in Cebu last Sunday.
Pacquiao said of the Filipino boxers who saw action in the ?Resbak? fight card, ?Congratulation to Michael Domingo sa magandang pinakitang laban, and also kay Jimrex Jaca na nanalo, at sa lahat ng mga ibang fighters na lumaban at nanalo.”
Pacquiao said this as he was confined at the Cardinal Santos Medical Center in San Juan City. He was taken to the hospital on Sunday morning due to his ulcer.
On Sunday night, Domingo delivered a liver punch to Luis Melendez, sending his Colombian opponent crumpling down to the canvass for an overpowering 2nd Round victory.
Domingo dedicated his win to Z Gorres who was at ringside. Melendez dealt Gorres a career-ending punch in their bout last November in Las Vegas.
?Alam kong may lakas siya, magaling siya sabi ko, ?Kayang-kaya ko ?to.? Kaya ?pag first round pa lang, puro jab ginamit ko, pinasok ko. Sabi ko, ?Mabagal naman pala ?to, pasukin ko na ?to.? ?Yan ang nasa isip ko,? Domingo remarked after prevailing over Melendez.
Jaca was also impressive, knocking down his opponent from Kenya, James Kimori, in the 2nd Round. The Filipino continued the attack which forced the referee to stop the fight in the 4th Round. Jaca was declared the victor via a 4thh Round technical knockout (TKO).
Jason Pagara scored a TKO win as well in the 2nd round over fellow Filipino Romeo Jakosalem from Davao.
?Resbak? was shown on Channel 2 on Sunday, May 23. The event’s matches will be shown on Studio 23 on May 26, Wednesday, at 2 p.m.
Pacman back to old self
Pacquiao, meantime, was recovering well a day after he was rushed to the hospital.
Keeping him company at his suite in the Cardinal Santos Medical Center is wife Jinkee and children Jimuel, Michael and Princess. His youngest child, Queen Elizabeth, was not there.
Pacquiao said he complained of stomach pains on Saturday and was brought to the hospital on Sunday for a check-up. Doctors decided to confine him for further tests. Because of the rigorous campaign schedule, Pacquiao frequently missed meals, which doctors said is one cause of ulcer.
?Minsan kasi nalilipasan ng gutom at nakakalimutan kumain? Tiningnan sa loob, may gasgas yung bituka ko,? said Pacquiao.
But the Filipino boxing superstar is okay now after taking some mediation and much needed rest. He was back to his usual self?singing, watching television and signing autographs.
The forced rest in the hospital has also given him some bonding time with his family. Princess told Pacquiao, ?Pagaling ka daddy.?
