Manny Pacquiao might be on the minds of the Mayweather family, but their respective court cases cast the biggest shadow on Floyd Jr, Floyd Sr, and Uncle Roger’s immediate future. The Mayweathers are no strangers to the legal system and court cases. However, this time around, the legal issues pending against Uncle Roger and Floyd Jr could possibly result in a KO.
Let’s examine further: Floyd Mayweather Jr
The defamation suit against Floyd Mayweather Jr will be a sticking point in the negotiations between Manny’s camp and Floyd’s camp. Bob Arum recently told the Las Vegas Review Journal that the lawsuit is still being pursued. This suit stems from the Mayweathers publicly saying Pacquiao is a cheater and taking PEDs. If Pacquiao is successful in the lawsuit, Floyd Jr and his kin folk could face financial repercussions.
In addition to the defamation suit, Floyd Jr is facing possible legal repercussions from the shooting at a Las Vegas skating rink last summer. Floyd’s associate, Ocie Harris, was arrested for firing a gun at two men who had a disagreement with Floyd Jr. Ocie faces four felony charges including attempted murder. Floyd Jr initially lied to the police about his involvement in the shooting and denied even knowing Ocie Harris. I don’t think Floyd Jr will see any punishment in the defamation suit. However, if he’s charged with anything for his role in the Ocie Harris shooting, then I could definitely see him suffer legal consequences.
In the case of Roger Mayweather, I would lean toward the side of the fence that he sees jail time. The police arrived and witnessed Roger assaulting the female victim. She had noticeable physical damage. Roger’s past criminal acts will also weigh against him in this trial. I don’t think Roger can avoid the KO on this one.
