What would the dinner table be like at the Mayweather residence if Manny defeated him? Floyd as great as he is in the ring is even greater at talking. Floyd can back up what he says, but will he be able to against the pound for pound king, Manny Pacquiao? Floyd has done a lot of talking over the years, but at the same time, he’s been able to back it all up. This may not be the case against Pacquiao. Can you imagine what the HBO 24/7 series would be like if this fight gets done? You won’t be hearing too much smack talk coming from Pacquiao’s side, with the exception of a few pot shots from Freddie Roach now and then.

Leading up to this fight there will be a lot of smack talk directed at Manny. Between Floyd Jr, his daddy, and uncle Roger, there will be plenty said. Pacquiao more than likely will keep it respectful, and will not be lured into the trash talk. Freddie on the other hand? Freddie will take his shots once and awhile just to keep things a little interesting. Pacquiao talks with his fists, and when he talks? It doesn’t usually bode well for his opponents.
If these two men get into the ring the talking will probably stop. Mayweather likes to talk, but he’s not stupid. It will not take Floyd too long to realize that he’s in the ring with a completely different monster than he’s ever faced before. Pacquiao will mean business, and he will not be intimidated. Floyd will have before him a seven division world champion who’s scared of nobody.
Mississippi Chief of Officials Stan Nichols commented on this potential fight and issues a warning for Floyd Mayweather, ” Floyd will have to change up his game-plan if he’s going to defeat Manny Pacquiao. He can’t stand there and be only a counter puncher. Manny’s too fast for that. Manny’s punches goes right through his opponents.”
Next week I will be ringside for Jr middleweight prospect Shawn Porter’s next fight. Porter, promoted by Mississippi based Prize Fight Promotions was a former sparring partner of Manny Pacquiao. Porter assisted Manny with his preparation for Miguel Cotto. Porter had this to say about Pacquiao, “He’s incredible. He is very fast, and he has the support of his entire nation. I was honored to have been there with him, and to work with him.”
Mayweather will have some issues to deal with IF this fight does come to fruition. Pacquiao’s speed and volume of punches will have to be dealt with. All of the talking that Mayweather will be doing leading up to this fight will be silenced by a plate full of humble pie. Even if Manny were to lose this fight, it’s not going to be a walk in the park for Floyd. Floyd will know, win, lose, or draw that he was in the ring with a devastating puncher with blinding speed.
Talk is cheap, and actions speak louder than words. Manny will speaking with his fists as he usually does, and Floyd will be doing his best to deal with it. There will be no smack talking once the bell starts for this one.
