Once upon a time, not too long ago, Jimrex ‘The Executioner’ Jaca was considered as one of the top Filipino boxing prospects. But since his biggest fight to date, a loss despite a gutsy performance against Mexican legend Juan Manuel Marquez, Jaca’s career went from promising to perilous.
Jaca suffered back-to-back TKO losses in Thailand in 2008 after dropping a decision in Japan. Little was heard from him since until recently when Jaca vowed to rededicate himself to reviving his career.
In January during his comeback fight at the Cuneta Astrodome in Pasay as an under card for Brian Viloria’s failed title-defense against Carlos Tamara, Jaca showed signs of his old self en-route to a 5th round TKO victory against Indonesian KO specialist Ramadhan Weriu .
Now Jaca, with the support of ALA Promotions, will get another opportunity to follow his inspiring victory when he faces Kenyan boxer James Kimori (15-3-0- 11KOS) on May 23 as the co-headliner of ‘Hangad na Paghihiganti’ (Desire for Revenge) featuring Michael Domingo against the man responsible for ending Z Gorres’ career, Luis Melendez .
Everybody loves a comeback, and Jaca is one of the good ones. The 26-year old southpaw and Dumaguete native who know resides in Cebu, still has a lot in his tank and ALA Promotions president Michael Aldeguer believes in him enough to give him a shot.
Aldeguer said, ?We feel this is now the time to go to the next level. From now on, we will not only be promoting ALA fighters, but other Filipino and foreign fighters as well,” during a press conference with Cebu media.
