In the main event of Latin Fury 14, Antonio Margarito made his successful return to the ring by defeating Garcia via Unanimous Decision. The fight turned ugly throughout with a lot of grabbing, pushing, and dirty punches. Garcia lost a point in 2 separate rounds for low shots and punches to the back of the head. Margarito looked in good shape and seemed to have no ring rust.
Intro The crowd boos the U.S. national anthem. Garcia receives a small reaction but Margarito receives a huge ovation. He’s clearly the crowd favorite. The camera continues to focus on girls in the crowd. Fighters are in the ring and being introduced again. Garcia gets booed more this time. Loud reaction for Margarito. Antonio looks in good shape. The ref brings the fighters to the center of the ring and gives them his instructions in both English and Spanish.
Round 1 To the center of the ring and both fighters exchange some jabs. Both fighters are blocking the jabs with their gloves. Margarito lands a nice right hand. Antonio looking aggressive but gets caught by a nice right hand from Garcia. Antonio lands a left to the body and then to the head. Garcia stands in there and throws some of his own. Antonio lands a big right hand and knocks down Garcia. Antonio back out there and continues the attack. Garcia in the corner and Antonio is landing some big shots. Garcia is able to fight out of the corner. But Antonio is aggressive and eats a left to the head late in the round. Round 2 Both men out to the center of the ring. Garcia looks aggressive. Antonio gets his rhythm and works the jab. Garcia blocking most of the punches but is unable to get any off. Garcia against the ropes trying to fight back by going to the body. Antonio lands some big shots to the head and Garcia smiles as the crowd cheers. Antonio land to the body and the head at will. Margarito forces Garcia back into the corner as he clearly dictates the pace. Antonio is out-punching Garcia at least 3 to 1 in this round. Round Winner – Local fans give it to Antonio and I have to agree. Fan Reaction – Jose M “There’s no way this fight is gonna go more than a few more rounds with the way Garcia is eating those punches.”
Round 3 Garcia comes out looking to land some punches. They tie up and push each other. Garcia lands a nice jab that snaps Antonio’s head back. Garcia pushing the action and lands a big left hook to the head. Both men exchange solid punches. Antonio smiles and attacks. Garcia looks angered. He pushes Margarito. Garcia fighting much more aggressively. Margarito lands some big punches and Garcia just laughs and yells. Both men exchange shots in the center of the ring. Antonio starting to open up on Garcia as the crowd chants “Margarito”. Garcia trying to steal the round. Garcia keesp smiling as the round ends and Antonio lands some shots.
Round Winner – Local fans give it to Antonio. I say it’s much closer and Garcia could have stolen the round. Fan Reaction – Caesar G “Roberto is coming back. This fight is getting dirty”
Round 4 Garcia comes out jabbing and Antonio responds with some lefts. Fast paced action from both men. Antonio landing a big series of lefts and rights onto Garcia who’s against the ropes. Roberto fights off and back into the center. Antonio looks in good shape as he is bouncing. A low shot by both fighters and the ref warns them, Antonio presses Garcia into the corner but Robert courageously fights back and then gets Antonio in a headlock. Antonio landing a series of punches, Antonio keeps charging ahead and gets Garcia back against the ropes. Round closes with Antonio landing a few shots to Garcia’s head.
