Ok, Ok, so I figured that if Hatton and Oscar could have some success against the Defensive Wizard, then for sure Shane would be able to win enough rounds to get the nod. Well, I was way off. Did Shane get old over night? Did Shane over train? Did Shane leave the fight in the gym? Or maybe Floyd was and is just that good.
Looking at Shane in the ring against Floyd, 2 things to me were loudly clear. #1- Shane was so tight coming off that long 16 month lay off that his arms seemed so rusty and heavy that it looked as if his legs were trying to carry the heavy load, thus making Shane look dead tired ever since round number 4. So did ring rust on a 38 year old body kill Shane Mosley chances? I would say yes and no. Yes, because Shane didn?t look like himself ever since round 1. Shane looked very tight from the very beginning.
The #2 and most important thing that I noticed, was that the wrong Shane Mosley showed up. Mosley tried to box the boxer. Mosley tried to out think the counter puncher. Shane waited and waited for openings, those openings never surfaced. Shane should have fought like Shane Mosley, only with extra effects that were taught to him by Brother Naazim.
Instead, Shane stood there trying to find openings, when openings didn?t show, Floyd then rained rights on Shane at will. Floyd only became the aggressor because Shane allowed that space to be there in the first place. Shane should have closed the space with double jabs then appear at the door like Hatton and clutch on to Floyd B-Hop style. Not saying this would have got the job done, but it would have given the Mayweather puzzle fitts.
So what comes next for Money May? Pacquiao, Pacquiao, Pacquiao! I?m a spell his name one more time, it?s the P A CQ UI AO you just lay down slow! It?s only right that the two fighters that keep proving me wrong time and time again do battle to see who really is what they have shown to be. The best pure boxer that I have seen since Sweet Pea, against the biggest, baddest storm that I have ever seen. If it takes place this year, [which I highly doubt] it will most likely take place in December. Knowing Floyd though, Floyd will probably take a year off, which means that we will not see Floyd in the ring till next May. Is that why they call Floyd Money May? Money seems to love getting his Money in May.
