On Saturday night, Floyd Mayweather displayed his astounding boxing skills yet again. He dominated Mosley for the majority of the fight and conducted himself with sportsmanship and dignity.
His night was not completely without difficulty, however.
Mosley landed a couple of right hands that seriously hurt Mayweather in Rnd. 2. The second one caused Mayweather’s knees to buckle and it appeared that he would have gone down had he not grabbed Mosley’s arm to regain his balance.
Mayweather survived the thundering rights and went on to easily win rounds 3 through 12.
Mosley admitted that he was loading up his shots and going for a knockout, which caused him to tire quickly.
In a previous article entitled Is Floyd Mayweather really afraid of Manny Pacquiao, Fred Logue of Knob Hill, Arkansas shared his opinion of how Mayweather / Mosley would play out. Logue is a former amateur boxing trainer who has trained two national champions.
His prediction of the Mayweather/Mosley bout was spot on.
“Mosley will give Mayweather a pretty decent fight for two or three rounds, but Mayweather will beat him pretty easy, I think,” Logue said. “If there’s a stoppage, Mayweather will be the one that stops it.”
His analysis was different than all others that were circulating. Who would have expected Mosley to gas-out so quickly? Who would have thought that Mayweather would have been aggressive enough to nearly stop Mosley?
The accuracy of Logue’s prediction prompted this writer to speak to him again on Sunday night.
When it was mentioned that Mosley managed to hurt Mayweather in Rnd. 2, Logue said:
“That’s when Mosley spent his power right after that. He tried to beat him to death. That’s the only shot he had of winning the fight, you know? He knew he wasn’t going to outbox him.”

The conversation then turned to the the likelihood of a Pacquiao / Mayweather fight, and Logue’s opinion of the outcome.
LS: One thing Mayweather said is that there has to be blood tests all the way up to the fight, and Pacquiao refuses to submit to the random testing because he feels that it will weaken him on fight night.
FL: Ah, I think they’ll fight. They got to. He [Mayweather] has run out of anybody that can pay him the money now. You know, boxing’s like anything else. There’s a lot of politics, but where the money’s at is where [Mayweather] is going to be. I figure he’ll fight one of two more times before he fights Pacquiao. He’ll wind his career up on him.”
LS: It seems like there’s nobody else for either one of these guys to be a real challenge for them.
FL: Yeah, that’s right.
LS: It looked like Mosley was tired and he also seemed to be afraid to turn his hands lose because he was getting countered so much. I think Pacquiao might look like Mosley did in Rnd. 2, and continue fighting that way throughout the fight.
FL: Yeah. Pacquiao will cut the ring on him, and I call them stop-shots. You know, Mayweather moves a lot left and right–lateral movement. And you learn what I’m telling you now. When they fight, Mayweather will step to his right, and when he does, Pacquiao will hit him with right hooks to the body. He’ll land hard body shots and he’ll stand him [Mayweather] up in his tracks. He’ll cut the ring off with body shots. He won’t just step over and stop him. He’ll hit him and keep him from moving on him. It’ll take [Pacquiao] two or three rounds to get him slowed down, but it won’t go ten rounds. Pacquiao will stop him. He’s fought that way all his life.
LS: Pacquiao gets hit a lot. Do you think Pacquiao can withstand Mayweather’s punches?
FL: I don’t think Mayweather can hit hard enough to even slow Pacquiao down. He’ll slip enough of them, and he’ll get Mayweather to where it’ll be more his type of fight before it’s near over. Mayweather will look like Shane Mosley before the third or fourth round. He’ll start slowing down and tying Pacquiao up.
Logue certainly picked correctly for “Who R U Picking”.
It will be interesting to find out if he’s right about “The Fight The World Wants to See”.
