Last night in Las Vegas, Nevada at the MGM Grand, Floyd Mayweather Jr put on a boxing clinic that made a sure fire hall of famer look like an average fighter at best. Already those in denial to Floyd’s talents are saying things like Mosley is too old, and Mosley over trained, and Mosley hurt his hand, blahh blahh blahh. The hatred for Floyd Mayweather by mainly Pacquiao fans is some what warranted, and brought on by Floyd, but somewhere along the line someone has to give Mayweather his props. Here are a few facts that can’t be disputed as it pertains to Floyd Mayweather Jr.
FACT – Floyd Mayweather is almost if not AS fast as Pacquiao.
FACT – Floyd Mayweather’s defense is better than Pacquiao’s.
FACT – Floyd Mayweather would be the smartest fighter (inside of the ring) that Pacquiao would have ever faced.
FACT – Floyd Mayweather is bigger than Pacquiao.
Manny Pacquiao in return brings into the ring speed that Mayweather has never faced before. Pacquiao also brings in a relentless come forward style with punches that have very bad intentions on them. This writer is in no way saying that Mayweather is guaranteed to beat Manny Pacquiao. All I am saying is that for those who think Floyd Mayweather is just some over hyped boxer that will crumble or be exposed by Pacquiao are fooling themselves.
Pacquiao fans are loyal to their guy, and rightfully so. They should be loyal to their guy because Manny is not only a top 5 fighter of all time, but he’s also a good man outside of the ring. Pacquiao is nothing but good for the sport. With that said, some of his fans are blind and unwilling to see just how great Floyd Mayweather is. The only way for Floyd to settle this is to get into the ring and fight.

Last night when HBO’s Larry Merchant asked Floyd what would happen if Manny refused the blood test, Floyd simply responded, “Then there aint no fight.” It would be a travesty if these two great modern day fighters finished up their careers without facing each other.
Mississippians are just like the rest of the boxing world. They are begging for a Mayweather vs. Pacquiao fight. Every fight that this writer covers from Biloxi, MS to Tunica, MS, it’s the same thing. Mississippi’s Assistant State Athletic Commissioner Patrick Turner is no different. He told this writer on several occasion how bad he wants to see this fight. The same feelings are expressed throughout Mississippi everywhere I go.
Mayweather sent a message to all boxing fans last night. It’s up to those who received the message whether or not to read it. One thing is for sure, Mayweather and Pacquiao are both great fighters and the world should see them fight.
