On November 15th, featherweight king Manny Pacquiao shocked the world of boxing by whooping future Hall of Famer Marco Antonio Barrera for eleven rounds, forcing his corner to throw in the towel. Now, just slightly more than a month after the biggest victory of his career, we?ve been hearing Pacquiao, the featherweight king, could once again shock the boxing world by moving back down in weight to fight his 122 lb mandatory, Jose Luis Valbuena! Why? To make more money of course!
For the past couple of years, countless media outlets, both in the United States and the Philippines, have done a lot more than hint that Manny Pacquiao might have too many hands in his pockets. These hints reached their culmination during the Barrera-Pacquiao telecast, when on the air, one of HBO?s announcers (I believe it was Jim Lampley) commented on Pacquiao earning $300,000 of a potential $700,000 that was on the table for him.
